New Afton Mine

Situated 10 kilometers west of picturesque Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.

About the Role

Schedule: 5x2, Monday-Friday

Position Reports To: Finance Manager

Position Overview: This senior position is responsible for supervision of the IT Team to ensure effective daily operations of the Information Technology environment. This is done through monitoring, planning, and maintaining all networks, systems, and related infrastructure in accordance with accepted industry IT practices and New Gold Inc. policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Supervising local IT team on daily operations and managing inter department interactions on day to day basis;
Managing core networking and core servers including virtualization and life cycle;
Providing end-user and desktop support both remotely and onsite;
Ensuring patch and firmware cycles are up to date and implemented efficiently;
Maintaining and monitoring backups and disaster recovery concepts;
Monitoring and resolving incidents using the ITIL best practices;
Implementing and adhering to proper change management as per the ITIL best practices; and other duties as required;
24/7 on call availability in order to assist the global New Gold IT team;
Responsible for the site IT budget and coordinating with Corporate IT on future projects/directions for the New Gold environment as well as other related IT operations.

Qualifications

University or College degree/diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology;
5-years experience in Computer Science/Information Technology; a combination of education and experience will be considered;
Experience working with cloud technology such as Microsoft 365 and Azure
Previous supervisory experience;
Customer service focused with previous help desk experience;
Proven safety leadership;
Conflict-Resolution and decision making skills;
An out-of-the-box problem solver;
Organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively, managing multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands and deadlines;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:

Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements

Compensation

A competitive salary, performance bonus plan and benefits will be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
