Job Summary

In support of the overall goals of Residence Services, a unit within the division of Student Affairs, the Senior Conference Clerk is responsible for facilitating the successful operation of Conference Services and supervises a team of two seasonal conference clerks in the Residence Services Main Office.

Residence Services provides accommodation services, programming and education to the on-campus student community, in addition to providing a summer conference operation for off-campus customers. The Senior Conference Clerk provides exceptional customer service, performs sales tasks and account management related to group and guest bookings by responding to inquiries for accommodation, processing reservations, liasing with conference convenors, and other Residence Services departments such as facilities, houskeeping and front desk, applying payments and charges, and assigning rooms using a customized computer reservation system.

This position interacts with other campus partners also providing services to groups such as Food Services and Campus Catering.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Business Operations, the Senior Conference Clerk leads conference operations, coordinating the booking process and groups on-site while supervising and supporting the conference clerks. This position coordinates the team’s marketing and sales efforts, and contributes to the development of communciations, sales and marketing strategies to increase conference revenues for Residence Services.

Specialized Knowledge/Education:

  • Demonstrated ability with MS Word, Excel and database software
  • Demonstrated mathematical and analytical skills
  • Diploma in Business Administration an asset

Experience:

  • Three to five years recent experience in conference sales and services, hospitality, retail or higher education environment including experience with a property management system, account reconciliation and data/records management.
  • Minimum 3 years experience with standard office software including MSOffice (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong first-point-of-contact customer service background and experience in supervising teams
