Job Role: Science and Arts Specialist

Reports to:Camp Laureate Director

About Camp Laureate:

Camp Laureate is a S.T.E.A.M focused day camp. With multiple programs rooted in Science, Arts and Sports campers from 6-14 years of age are sure to find a program that fits their interest. Our camp is located on the border of Burlington and Waterdown, our beautiful 50-acre campus boasts something for everybody! Our programs boasts a mix of specialized S.T.E.A.M activities in the mornings with a traditional day camp activities in the afternoon. Some activities include, archery, field games, water games, hiking. On Thursdays we participate in theme days, which include specialized themed programming and a special guest presentation.

Specialist Responsibilities:

• Planning and implementing a wide range engaging Science and Arts activities for campers aged 6-14 (Science 5 weeks, Arts 1 week)
• Working with groups of campers within ratio (1 staff : 10 campers)
• Participating in all camp games, activities, campfire performances and theme days
• Following all safety procedures
• Handing in written lesson plans within a time frame
• Afternoon rotation of Arts and Crafts or Archery (training provided)
• Behaviour management of campers (including documenting any issues that arise)

Skills and Qualifications:

• Previous camp experience an asset
• Experience with STEAM programs an asset
• Good with children
• Enthusiastic
• Flexible
• Reliable
• Organized
• Good teamwork skills
• First Aid and CPR level C (required before start date)

Pay: $20.00/ hr

Contract Dates:

• 40-hour weeks in July and Aug for 7 weeks of camp
• Promotional hours available in June (if available)

Job Types: Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 7 weeks

Salary: $20.00 per hour
