Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) one of the world’s premier sports and entertainment companies, owns the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL), Toronto Raptors (NBA), Toronto FC (MLS), Toronto Argonauts (CFL), Toronto Marlies (AHL), Raptors 905 (NBA D-League), TFC II (USL) and Raptors Uprising Gaming Club, the Toronto Raptors Esports franchise in the NBA 2K League. Its charitable arm, MLSE Foundation, focuses on funding initiatives to support youth through sport and recreational programs. In 2017 MLSE Foundation, with support of community and corporate partners, built MLSE LaunchPad, a 42,000-sq. ft. space dedicated to programming that support its four Pillars: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, Ready For School and Ready For Work.

MLSE also owns and operates Scotiabank Arena, Canada’s premier sports & entertainment venue hosting more than 200 events each year, as well as two digital channels (Leafs Nation Network and NBA TV Canada), and has a partnership with Live Nation (the biggest concert promoter in the world). MLSE has also invested in and operates five of Toronto’s sports facilities – Coca-Cola Coliseum, BMO Field, BMO Training Grounds at Downsview Park, home of Toronto FC’s Academy and the First Team’s practice facility, the Toronto Raptors’ training facility and the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence, the practice facility for the Maple Leafs and Marlies.

Job Description


MLSE is currently looking to fill our Sales Development Academy with ambitious, hard-working, and coachable individuals who have a passion to grow a career in sports. This is a 9-12-month, entry-level sales program that is built on a strong foundation of learning the fundamentals through outbound activity, on-going training and development. Graduates from this program are well positioned for advancement as we are committed to developing future leaders within the organization.

As part of the Ticket Sales Team, your focus will be selling from a menu of products to support our teams at Scotiabank Arena, BMO Field, Coca-Cola Coliseum and Paramount Fine Foods Centre. To be successful in this role, you must be a proactive, goal-oriented individual who thrives in a high-paced business environment and shares our common purpose to unite and empower employees to create extraordinary moments for our fans and each other.

Responsibilities

  • We are a ‘team first’ culture so your first responsibility is to be an incredible teammate. Each member of our sales team takes an equal share in developing and preserving a positive and collaborative group dynamic; this is the foundation of our success.
  • Contribute to a collaborative sales culture that drives results across all MLSE properties, including but not limited to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Raptors, TFC, Argonauts, Marlies, Raptors 905, Suites, Music & LIVE Events.
  • Sell a full menu of ticket products, including but not limited to full season, flex/partial season, group hospitality & premium ticket packages.
  • Prospect new business through cold calling, social selling & live hosting opportunities.
  • Identify prospects for new sales opportunities through centers of influence, referrals and appointments.
  • Contact past purchasers to actively build relationships and generate new opportunities.
  • Provided extraordinary customer service by ensuring prompt and thorough responses for all inbound and outbound communication.
  • Regularly produce accurate updates on prospecting activity, sales performance, appointments and events
  • Adapt and be prepared to pivot quarterly focus as the demands of the business evolve.
  • Prepare and execute presentations to prospective clients.
  • Effectively manage order processing through the ticket booking system by adhering to proper administration processes.
  • Successful sales results require winning behaviors. You will be required to master our CRM system as a tool to help guide your daily behaviors and measure the progression of your sales funnel.
  • Ensure customer and prospect contact with game-day sales efforts where applicable.
  • Meet or exceed designated quarterly and annual ticket sales revenue objectives.
  • Perform promotional or Membership service functions as required

Qualifications
  • A self-starter with a professional demeanour and presence
  • Alert and receptive to shifting demands within a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Comfortable and capable of delivering within a fast-paced environment, utilizing time management and organizational skills
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as the need arises
  • A positive, team first approach, incorporating integrity, confidentiality and discretion
  • An ongoing awareness and responsiveness to client satisfaction
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop professional relationships
  • Skillful at listening, understanding and presenting effectively
  • Willingness to be coached with the bravery to take risks and learn from the results
  • Highly motivated individual with a strong desire to build a career in the sports business
  • A ‘One-Team’ approach toward departmental and company-wide goals
  • Demonstrated to perform well under tight timelines; prioritize simultaneously
  • Any experience in developing sales and service relationships is preferred
  • Confident user of Microsoft 360 - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • TicketMaster and/or ARCHTICS knowledge is an asset but not essential
  • Salesforce knowledge would be an asset
