Publisher / Editor (Level I)

We are looking for a Publisher / Editor (Level I) in Ottawa, ON.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic publishing team responsible for creating, formatting, and updating of technical publications for the Canadian Military in an S1000D environment. Using various software applications such as MSWord, Adobe Acrobat and Oxygen XML Editor, you will ensure publications conform to strict guidelines, and are in accordance with various specifications. This entry level position is full time and is available immediately. Training will be provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

o Apply current processes to existing publications and publication structures;

o Incorporate redline changes into existing publications and republishes to specific format;

o Proofread and edit publication content;

o Cooperate and liaise with other members of the team;

o Conform to specifications and standards;

QUALIFICATIONS:

o Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills;

o Hands on experience with MS Office, or other Desktop Publishing application;

o Must be highly organized, proactive, and collaborative;

o Ability to work with sensitive information;

o Ability to adapt to deadlines and changing priorities;

o Customer service oriented with the ability to listen, understand, and respond;

o Strong sense of ownership and follow through;

o Attention to detail;

o Knowledge of XML tagging an asset;

o Bilingualism (English / French) an asset;

o University Degree in English, French or related field an asset;

REMUNERATION:

o $18.00/hr with review after 6 months
