JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:

  • Plans and organizes the implementation of Power Smart programs by performing duties such as:
determining program objectives and developing implementation details through discussions with
Marketing and Power Smart department staff; organizing staff and resources; researching
vendors, acquiring quotes, samples, proofs; identifying sustainable options within promotional
materials; preparing and evaluating responses to Requests for Proposals for external consultants/
contractors and vendors; monitoring contract terms and conditions; ordering promotional items;
and approving program-related invoices for managerial sign-off to approved levels.

  • Determines program evaluation, data capture, downloading, and related reporting requirements.
Monitors and tracks delivery of programs to ensure consistency of approach, investigates and
follows up to resolve delivery and other problems. Liaises with marketing, technical and Power
Smart stakeholders to monitor, review and resolve tracking, reporting, technical and escalated
customer care issues.

  • Provides administrative, tracking and reporting support for department and Power Smart
program delivery. Compiles, analyzes and distributes department results and Power Smart
program delivery results to management and various related departments throughout the
organization. Prepares public information records, budgetary, productivity and statistical reports.
Prepares written reports, tracking reports and status updates.

  • Manages department and Power Smart program administrative systems such as Activity
Tracker, GrantStream, Display and Event booking, customer care-related databases and
inventory control systems. Co-ordinates technical aspects and enhancements through application
development staff including testing and implementation of new and revised system components.

  • Troubleshoots and ensures problems are resolved in a timely fashion and that systems meet

department requirements. Forecasts budget requirements for technical enhancements and
resource requirements.

  • Represents BC Hydro as a spokesperson by participating in media interviews, and develops
appropriate responses to media inquiries and questions from internal clients by conducting
research and gathering information through liaison with cross-functional groups within BC Hydro.
Responds to public queries by providing answers, guidance and interpretation of information.
Keeps corporate communications apprised of any potential issues that may escalate to senior
management and contributes to the development of mitigation strategies by performing duties
such as preparing preliminary informational summaries.

  • Prepares budgetary input for project consultation and communication plans including
recommendations for departmental capital items.

  • Provides training and technical direction to Power Smart Reps and others who are participating
in delivery of programs and services across the province in order to ensure that program
objectives, consistency of delivery, etc. are met. Develops and delivers tracking, reporting and
technical training material and presentations. Occasionally staffs community events.

  • Maintains communication plans, media summaries, tracking reports and monitoring logs, and a
photo library using a variety of software programs.

  • Maintains department content on internal and external web pages. Develops and updates
content and works with internal communications and digital media departments to ensure
consistent and dynamic content is available on intra- and inter-net.

  • Maintains currency with new and emerging product and process technologies, customer
segments, etc.; attends conferences and tradeshows; maintains contacts with commercial, trade
and industrial representatives.

  • Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the
job.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in a related field such as marketing and communications plus relevant in-house
courses or equivalent on topics such as PeopleSoft, CCS, purchasing, tracking systems with three
years of related experience in a marketing, communications or sales administrative role. Well
developed oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills, and analytical skills.
Leadership experience will be considered an asset.

  • Please note that this Full Time Temporary opportunity for approximately 9 months and is
scheduled to end October 28, 2022.

  • Please note that a Class 5 Drivers License would also be consider an asset.

  • Testing will be required as part of the application process.

  • BC Hydro employees will be required to provide proof they are fully vaccinated effective
November 22, 2021.

Flexible work model role definitions
===========================
Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home
based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for
each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time
from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.

IBEW/Field – No option to work from home
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
