Process Automation /DCS Controls Lead

Reporting to the ALE Execution Engineering Manager, the Process Automation/DCS Controls Lead will provide technical support to the Clients Asset Life Extension team as outlined in the responsibilities section below. The Process Automation/DCS Controls Lead ensures assigned scope is effectively completed in line with expectations of the ALE Execution Engineering Manager.

• Primarily a software upgrade with conversion of software controls on ABB’s recent platform.
• Consoles and cabinets, cards, terminations, etc. will mostly remain as is, but some support for front end hardware will be required.
• Manage software change notice items through planning, testing on an onshore simulator and then implementation on the vessel with subsequent pre-commissioning and commissioning support.
• Support to commissioning and start up teams to write commissioning procedures and manage the turnover to operations from construction including any pre-commissioning activity planning/executing.
• Integration of a number of Management of Change (MOC) type projects that are being incorporated into the overall FPSO (Floating Petroleum Storage Offloading) facility which will require additional tags and configuration or control narrative changes.
• Maintain required updates to control system discipline documents and Cause & Effect diagrams
• Primary point of contact to advise on technical matters and issues as they arise through the life of the DCS upgrade project.

• Degree in Engineering and Professional Engineering designation or career experience equivalent
• Minimum 5 years related experience in the petro-chemical/ oil and gas business with desired experience in fixed and floating production systems, topsides facilities and offshore operations support
• Demonstrated knowledge of distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers, alarm management, emergency shutdown systems, safety instrumented systems, subsea control systems, software maintenance and security
• Familiar with the engineering tools required to monitor, operate, and make software modifications to the various control systems
• Basic understanding of production system processes and economics
• Knowledge and experience in Environmental, safety and loss prevention process and practices
• Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management, and the ability to lead through influence
• Computer fluent MS/Office and experience with SAP
• Ability to supervise a diverse tea m of individual s
