Acuren is currently recruiting for Pipeline Integrity Technicians and PAUT Techniciansto support upcoming and future pipeline integrity projects throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba (Prairies Region) as well as Ontario (Central Region). Pipeline Integrity Technicians Minimum Requirements
  • CGSB UT2 and MT2
PAUT Technicians Minimum Requirements
  • PCN/CSWIP PAUT Level 2
Position Information
  • Experience working with pipeline integrity or pipeline maintenance positions and extensive knowledge of quality and safety requirements to properly perform inspections and interpret results.
  • Perform direct assessment of as-found pipe condition, including coating assessment, soils and topography, soils resistivity, and cathodic protection
  • Assess pipe for cracks, corrosion, deformation and manufacturing anomalies
  • Correlate as-found pipe features to Inline Inspection (ILI) log
  • Conduct fit-for-service evaluations as per ASME B31.3 and RSTRENG
  • For PAUT Technicians, perform pipeline seam weld scans with manual and/or automated scanners and have familiarity with seam weld defects (i.e. hook flaws, LOF, internal trim, etc.)
  • Conduct hazard assessments prior to beginning work and follow safe work procedures
  • Provide clients with quality services in a timely manner
  • Follow regulatory requirements; work to codes, procedures and techniques
  • Familiarity with CSA Z245.1 for pipe, and CSA Z662 for Pipeline Welding would be an asset.
  • Be responsible for the custody, care and correct use of valuable technical equipment, tools, machinery, publications, materials, job items, vehicles and other assets
  • Responsible for writing inspections reports as per client’s requirements
  • Upcoming pipeline integrity projects have varying types of shift schedules (6 days on/1 day off) or rotations (e.g. 17/4).
Position Requirements
  • Valid CGSB Ultrasonic Level 2 and Magnetic Particle Testing Level 2
  • CGSB Ultrasonic Level 1 with a Magnetic Particle Testing Level 2 and extensive experience would be considered
  • Technicians should have previous Pipeline Integrity experience.
  • For PAUT Technicians, valid PCN/CSWIP PAUT Level certification
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Phased Array, TOFD or laser scanning experience.
  • Calibration and set up of NDE equipment, particularly PAUT/TOFD calibrations and set-ups
  • Understanding of Pipeline Integrity processes, techniques and procedures
  • Valid Driver’s License and clear driving record
  • Flexibility to work out of town for short or long durations depending on nature of project
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Excellent time and project management, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be computer proficient including experience with Microsoft Office products
