We are currently seeking: Pharmacy Technicians:

Contract (Casual) for 6 months in Toronto

January to June (possibility of extension) to: handle, prepare and administer COVID-19 vaccines for injections; assist with managing inventory; update patient information in COVAX; and complete all required reports and documentation.


Education and training will be provided - with support in advance and on site to ensure all PPE is provided and physical distancing for those participating in the COVID-19 vaccination efforts.


Required Skills:

  • Completion of an accredited college level Pharmacy Technician Program required and if graduated prior to 2008, Certification with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (CPhT) or completion of Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada (PEBC) Evaluating Exam required.
  • Certification (R.Ph.T.) by the Ontario College of Pharmacists preferred.
  • Active licensure with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT)
  • Successful completion of an OCP-approved injection training course; copy of certificate will be required as proof
  • COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory upon hire, vaccination receipt will be required as proof
  • Valid certification in CPR and First Aid is recommended
  • Experience or aptitude in aseptic medication preparation
  • Previous hospital experience with intravenous admixture service preferred
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities/deadlines
  • Ability to work variable shifts
  • Confident with Infection Prevention and Control practices and use of PPE
  • Experience in working with older adults with a commitment to cultural diversity
  • Previous experience with flu vaccine administration, an asset
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills to enable collaboration with partner organizations
  • Strong focus on social determinants of health and commitment to social justice and working successfully with marginalized groups
  • Ability to integrate and apply critical thinking skills to client care and work independently
  • Committed to client centred care and client centred learning—with health teaching experience
  • Use of proper body mechanics and successful completion of the Physical Readiness Test to ensure safe work practices are followed, including mobility, transfers, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a car is required to travel (preferred but not mandatory)
