Outreach Educator

Fundamental Objective:
Successfully implement science learning programs, projects, events, and initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.

General:
As an Outreach Educator, you will be responsible for delivering educational programs across the province consistent with Science East’s mission and objectives. This includes school programming, public programs, as well as special events offered by Science East both at the centre and through outreach activities. This position is full-time, with a standard 37.5 hour work week, based on a 7.5 hour day. Some flexibility in working hours will be necessary to adapt to the nature of the centre’s activities and flexible hours.

Nature and Scope
This position reports to the CEO, as well as the project coordinators to which you are assigned.
This position works in collaboration with various team members. You will interact with organized groups of students, youth, educators, stakeholders, and the public.

Responsibilities:

• Provide educational STEAM programs that are age appropriate in a clear, concise, and engaging manner
• Provide feedback for the design, development, and improvement of STEAM programs
• Provide students/children with learning activities in the use of digital technology and equipment
• Employ modern, inquiry based education strategies to adhere to Science East’s leading educational practices
• Establish and maintain links with potential partners for education and awareness programs
• Regular trips around New Brunswick, often involving overnight stays will be necessary
• Provide operational support
• Provide support to visitor services, including working in the centre
• Develop and facilitate virtual workshops as required
• Perform other tasks at the request of the CEO

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary diploma in science, applied sciences, technology, and communications

(other diplomas will be considered)

• Ability to engage and inspire audiences of all ages is essential
• Experience in formal and/or informal learning environments is an asset
• A degree in education or ECE certification is an asset
• Ability to speak and write French fluently is an asset
• Commitment to a high standard of professional conduct
• Enthusiasm and passion for teaching STEM
• A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel

• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs

• Programming and coding experience is an asset, but not required

• Good scientific basis

Annual Salary: $35 000 – $43 000

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
