Our Go Bus team is looking to hire Full-Time Operations Supervisor
  • The Operations Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day support to the General Manager with the overall delivery of the Para-Transit service in accordance with contract operating standards. The Operations Supervisor will assist with administrative duties in areas such as staffing, human resources, safety, maintenance, payroll and accounting and will be called upon to supervise the operations in the absence of the General Manager. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

The following is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the essential functions of the Operations Supervisor position, but rather a general description of some of the requirements necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position. The Operations Supervisor must be able to perform the following tasks, among others:
  • Assists the General Manager with reviewing performance, monitors and adjusts services to ensure on-time performance
  • Conducts site checks and road observations according to client and local policy while documenting findings accordingly and provide necessary reports to Operations or Safety Manager as directed
  • Assists with service or customer issues
  • Assists the General Manager with maintaining staff levels
  • Assists in the recruitment, selection, training, coaching and managing the performance of staff
  • Ensures all pre and post hire paperwork is accurately completed and processed in a timely manner
  • Coordinates with Human Resources to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee and benefit information
  • Maintains and updates staff schedules
  • Assigns coverage for staff absences
  • Maintains and updates employee personnel, safety & training files
  • Maintains clear and accurate records of individual job performance issues
  • Schedules and organizes staff training classes
  • Updates employee notice boards including monthly safety messages
  • Ensures all vehicle and passenger incidents are reported in a timely manner
  • Attends accident scenes in the absence of the General Manager
  • Conducts daily fare box reconciliation and bank deposits
  • Produces and tracks monthly Liquidated Damages reports
  • Tracks and monitors driver fuel cards
  • Maintains and updates Preventative Maintenance Interval (PMI) tracker
  • Reviews daily vehicle inspection sheets and reports vehicle maintenance issues
  • Coordinates with maintenance vendor to ensure scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is completed on time
  • Coordinates with Utility Worker and external vendor to ensure vehicles are cleaned to required standards
  • Orders supplies (office, maintenance & equipment)
  • Enters daily timesheets for Driver and Office staff and submits to Payroll by required deadlines
  • Reports and follows up on any payroll discrepancies
  • Ensures office, vehicles and the vehicle lot are regularly cleaned and maintained
  • Reviews internal email and distributes contents as needed
  • Ensures daily trip edit is completed accurately and timely
  • Reviews current and next day manifest for efficiency and operational performance, prepares/reviews daily
  • Represents Company in grievance procedure as required
  • Respects and maintains the confidentiality of all employee records, business records, client and customer information, data and other information not otherwise available to the public
  • Maintains a safe work area and a focus on safety to reduce the opportunity for injury to self or other employees
  • Demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality in compliance with the company attendance policy
  • Works flexible hours and on weekends as required
  • All other duties as assigned
Working Conditions

The Operations Supervisor works in both an office and field environment and may be called upon after hours from time-to- time by office employees or managers, in an emergency, or other reasons as required The job requires the following physical activities: sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, loading and unloading, typing, filing, answering phones. The Operations Supervisor may work in outside weather conditions and are occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations.

Qualifications
  • At least One (1) year of supervisory experience in the transportation industry. Supervisory or management experience of a work group in a different industry may be substituted at the Company’s sole discretion
  • Experience supervising/managing in a unionized environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License, unrestricted Class 4 preferred
  • Minimum of 3 Years of driving experience and an acceptable driving record
  • Be able to pass and maintain a clear Criminal Background Check
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to set clear expectations, coach, develop and motivate staff
  • Ability to effectively delegate tasks and provide appropriate supervision and follow up to department staff
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to influence people at all levels of the organization
  • Analytical with a strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while exceeding established goals and

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and present a professional demeanor
  • Knowledge of the transit service area and system parameters, client and service operating requirements
  • Working knowledge of Trapeze or similar transit scheduling software and the skills to resolve situational challenges
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including spreadsheet, word-processing applications, etc.
  • Able to use multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently, accurately and effectively
  • Ability to work a variety of different shift and flexible hours including days, evenings, over nights and weekends
  • Ability to work independently and objectively, plan ahead and schedule work
  • Ability to remain polite, professional and courteous while communicating with customers and other staff
  • Ability to remain calm and manage emergency situations and ensure the safety of all customers and employees
  • Ability to hold the respect and confidence of all employees
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage with a "Safety First" attitude
