SOUTHLAND Transportation is seeking a dedicated Operations Manager to join our dynamic team!

The manager role is a position that requires knowledge of transportation and the geographic area. The Manager is required to oversee the operations, safety, training and maintenance of the operation.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Provide leadership and direction to key departments: Operations, Safety, Training and Maintenance
• Assist in the development of operational budgets and forecasts
• Investigate and initiate change to improve operations systems and procedures
• Recruit, manage, supervise and direct personnel
• Assist with driver performance issues by supervising and supporting the training officer
• Work closely with the maintenance department to ensure adequate numbers and sizes of units are available to cover all routes
• Set-up and input data for driver payroll
• Meet monthly with Drivers’ Reps to discuss issues brought up by drivers
• Handle public and driver inquiries
• Establish and maintain relationships with current and future clients
• Adhere to company Core Values, and achieve its Strategic Goals

Required Qualifications

• Post-secondary education with emphasis on Management; or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of WCB and Occupational Health & Safety regulations and budgeting and financial statements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Desired Qualifications

• 3+ years operations and management experience
• Familiarity with transportation sector
• Expertise in organizational planning
• Knowledge of provincial and federal laws & regulations pertaining to industry requirements
