About Us - Ocean Capital Group
The Ocean Capital Group has five separate business lines with multiple companies providing goods and services in Broadcasting, Commercial Real Estate, Construction, Industrial Distribution and Petroleum Services. This diverse group of companies is based in Saint John, New Brunswick and is spread geographically throughout Canada and has USA-based operations. The Group has a centralized IT function that is provided out of a Corporate Services division.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Analyst with experience in enterprise networking. The chosen candidate will be part of a team responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, monitoring, and maintenance of computer networks within our organization. They will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning and security of network infrastructure. Collaboration is a key aspect of a Network Analyst’s role, as they work closely with various teams, including IT system administrators, IT support staff, project managers and key contacts for our sites and businesses. The Network Analyst will provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure network infrastructure aligns with organizational needs and supports business objectives. They may also liaise with vendors, service providers or 3rd party consultants to evaluate and implement network solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Anticipate network problems and resolve them before they impact users when possible.
  • Research, troubleshoot and resolve network and telephony/communications-related trouble tickets.
  • Design and implement solutions to meet the company’s network and telephony standards.
  • Collaborate with internal IT team, vendors and our customers ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the network for business needs.
  • Update network hardware and manage asset lifecycle.
  • Update network software and patch network equipment to protect from security vulnerabilities.
  • Coordinate and communicate outage windows with key contact throughout the businesses.
  • Manage network related projects.
  • Work on larger project teams as the networking point of contact.
  • Participate in after hours on-call rotation.
  • Remain current with emerging network solutions, security issues and threats to maintain the company’s security posture and network reliability.
  • Administer network management and telephony systems and applications.
  • Implement procedures and methods for auditing and addressing non-compliance to network standards.
  • Ensure that department goals are met, adhering to approved budgets.
  • Travel to sites as required for projects/troubleshooting.

Technical Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, etc.) are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience as a Network Analyst including network design, implementation, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Cisco enterprise networking equipment would be considered a great asset.
  • Strong knowledge of networking and telecommunications protocols, including IP, MPLS, Ethernet, VoIP, SIP, IPSEC, IKE, DNS, DHCP, 802.1X, NTP, etc...
  • Experience with routing and switching technologies including dynamic routing and redundancy protocols.
  • Experience with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption protocols, and ensure that networks are secure from unauthorized access and potential cyber threats.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and analysis tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or similar.

Personal Requirements
  • Driver’s license required.
