Overview:
Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division, is looking for an Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our high-tech engineering and manufacturing company and work with our Novatel line of proudcts. NovAtel receivers support GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Compass Global Navigation Satellite Systems. To support our focus on delivering high quality products, we are looking for an enthusiastic COOP/internship student to add to our Mechanical Engineering design team. This role offers you a chance to work hands-on alongside our Mechanical design and Sustaining engineering staff to develop, test, and maintain our GNSS technology. Working with our experienced team of designers you will gain valuable design experience, design methodologies, best practices as well as solid theoretical understanding of GNSS and its applications. This job will provide you with a diverse experience in both GNSS and Hardware design and test.

The Location:
This position is based on-site in Calgary, AB.
Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical Engineering Internyou will be responsible for the following:
  • Manage product lifecycle issues by analyzing each concern
  • Technical coordination of materials for mechanical proto builds
  • Develop mechanical solution adhering to IATF 16949 Processes
  • Drive the technical resolution to conclusion: hands on solution development including hardware design, test plan, test execution, test reports, documentation updates, and final implementation
  • Data set creation or modification (i.e. Bill of Material and drawing creation)
  • Creation of Temporary Deviations Notices and Engineering Change Orders
  • Support of design verification testing activities with leak and vibration testing, impact, drop, transit drop testing
  • Labels layout and packaging, and the coordination of approvals
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis when required to determine effective solution to the problem
  • Involve subject matter experts when required
  • Provide lessons learned information into the development team to mitigate future issues
Qualifications:
Must-Have:
  • Registered in an Engineering Internship/Co-op program and have completed your 3rd year of studies by the start of your work term
  • Enrolled inMechanicalEngineering at an accredited post secondary institution
  • Available for a minimum 12 month work term
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Strong modeling skills in Creo4, or other 3D modelling software, and Adobe Illustrator
  • Ability to work with hand tools and mechanical assemblies
  • Strong skill set with Personal Computers, operating systems and software packages
  • Understanding of Root Cause Analysis (8D)
  • Collaborative, persuasive, successful at negotiation
  • Ability to work with Multidisciplinary teams
