Job Description

Job Purpose:

Analytical and creative by intent, the Merchandise Manager oversees the development and implementation of the product strategy and assortment creation for the business. They will lead the CORE Collection Merchandising team by setting the vision, long range growth plans and global product architecture to align with the financial goals and consumer expectations all in support of the brand. They will inspire a consumer-focused and growth-minded approach while guiding multi-dimensional projects across the globe.

This role is highly cross-functional and leverages in-depth knowledge of the Canada Goose consumer, competition, global market/industry trends, retail data and business acumen to provide category objectives and product direction to the Canada Goose design team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create influence across the business through delivery of product strategy, vision and execution for the CORE Collection
  • Drive impact of the Merchandising team through key internal partnerships and executive team members
  • Develop a compelling global product offering in service of creating a lifestyle brand, financial targets and brand expectations
  • Build a lifestyle brand and long-range product roadmap based on analysis of both the CG and competitor marketplace with consideration of global and local requirements
  • Build category strategy to promote sustainable, profitable category growth and sell through
  • Communicate and engage the Global Merchandising strategic plan, provide direction with internal and external cross-functional partners in a compelling manner that inspires agreement and execution to a common vision
  • Build and maintain partnership with regions to develop insight into the local markets and ensure merchandising recommendations are understood
  • Lead the team to successfully meet every Product Pipeline milestone, facilitate cross functional review and gain alignment for all projects and proposals
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the inner workings of dynamic project timelines and cradle to grave process
  • Continuous research, identification of competitor trends, exploration of the retail market to provide tangible learning outputs and improvement of product strategy and assortment
  • Drive consumer centricity through establishment of product feedback loops to all cross-functional partners and merchandising leadership
  • Travel throughout marketplace to understand brand opportunities
  • Create and coach a multi-level team that is culturally connected, inspired to succeed, and innovative with a focus on the consumer and the competition

Education, Qualifications and Experience:
  • BA hons Degree or above in Fashion Design is an asset.
  • 5-10 years of industry specific working experience within a merchandising role or design related position.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer Skill; included proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
  • Excellent presentation skills of both design and final presentation.
  • Ability to work as a team and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Global understanding of the future markets and competitive brand positioning
  • Respect of Corporate deadlines and Calendar milestones
  • An excellent understanding of product construction.
  • Ability to work and lead a team and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion.
