Junior Radiation Surveyor

We are recruiting for a Junior Radiation Surveyor for our facility in Vancouver, BC.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the Director, Quality, Safety & Regulatory Affairs, performs the following functions:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carry out or monitor occupational health and safety and radiation safety procedures to provide a safe working environment within Vancouver operations and to provide a safe surrounding environment.
• Perform radiation safety duties that satisfies the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) regulations and associated site license.
• Provide technical radiation safety advice to staff.
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Secondary school graduation with credits in physics and mathematics.
• Preference given to community college graduate in a science discipline plus 3 to 5 years experience in an appropriate technical environment plus 1 year in radiation safety.
• Must have reasonable knowledge of CNSC and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations. Must be aware of hazards of radionuclides and safety procedure for hot laboratories.
• Must be able to inspire confidence, communicate clearly, deal harmoniously with others and remain calm and objective in emergency situations.
• Must be able to select appropriate detection equipment, operate electronic instrumentation and assemble basic monitoring systems.
• Environmental health and safety education and experience would be considered an asset.
