Job Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall execution and performance of service executed on mechanical or technical retrofit construction projects. The role will be responsible for consistent and repeatable project management standardized procedures and processes, achieving financial results on assigned projects and provide project coordination for day-to-day activities of Ainsworth employees and sub-contractors. The role will also be responsible for new work and change orders from the existing customer base, will provide services on project estimating and estimating reviews and will act as a technical resource for sales on large projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversees all day-to-day operational aspects of the projects and completes on-site visits at least once per week, or as required. Liaises with foreman, subcontractors, suppliers, client, consultants, etc. as required to manage the projects.
• Communicates regularly with all project stakeholders on the status of the project, which includes the client, management, personnel, subcontractors and suppliers. Prepares reports as required.
• Attends project meetings with client, chairs as required, and writes and/or reviews meeting minutes.
• Prepares contracts and subcontracts and negotiates revisions, changes and additions, with client, suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, etc. for the project to meet the financial and scheduling requirements.
• Creates detailed project work plans by identifying the resources, equipment, and financing needed for the successful execution, progress, and completion of the project according to customer defined milestones and internal cost budgets.
• Uses the Project Management Workbook (PMW) to set up the plan for the projects. The PMW includes task, manpower/labour, subcontractor, equipment and material planning and forecasting within a schedule.
• Sets up the Project in JDE using the PMW or via a Work Order prior to starting work detailing the cost codes for financial tracking.
• Sets up the file structure and documentation handing and filing for the project.
• Manages the procurement process for the project including shop drawing submittals and approvals, material and equipment purchases, rentals, and subcontracts when required.
• Assembles and maintains complete job files (electronic and paper) necessary to document all key deliverables throughout the project.
• Ensures all Closing documents are completed in a timely manner, ensures Customer acceptance, and ensure all open commitments are closed.

Qualifications

• A minimum of (2) years of experience as a Project Coordinator with a track record of successfully completing Mechanical and HVAC retrofit bid/spec and design build projects in the commercial marketplace.
• Project experience should include hot water boiler systems, chiller water systems, piping reconstruction projects and HVAC Retrofit and ductwork projects.
• The candidate will be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Project. In addition, the candidate will have experience in project setup, execution and regular financial reporting and project close out
• Travel Requirements
• Regular travel 10% to 25% of the time
