Job Summary: To install, maintain and update servers, PC’s, printers and software for plant, and keep IT infrastructure up and running. Provide technical support to end users and ensure the consistent flow of the ERP system


Required Education and Experience:

  • Community College/ Undergraduate degree in Computer Science/ Programming
  • Must be certified in MCDST, MCSE. Certification in MCSA, MOS, MCDBA is an asset
  • Must have experience working with Wireless devises like controllers, access points...etc
  • Must have experience configuring label printers, scanners (wired and wireless)
  • Good to have experience with Backup Exec software
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Team player, self-starter and ability to think and resolve issues independently
  • 3-4 years related work experience
  • Fluent in all versions of Microsoft Office/ Windows/Antivirus products (including XP)
  • Good knowledge of Windows server 2008 and 2012
  • Good knowledge about Cisco and HP switches and controllers
  • AS400 knowledge is desirable
  • Strong organizational skills and procedural knowledge with good documentation skills
  • Must have a car and valid driving license
  • Actively participate in product research, evaluation and procurement
  • Ready to work in shifts

Essential Functions:

  • Installing, configuring and administering servers, PC’s, printers and software
  • Provide user technical support and training; provide occasional technical support for Corporate office
  • Responsible for backups including AS400 and Network. Follow backup and recovery policies and procedures
  • Maintain daily logs sheets and proactively discuss the issues and come up with solutions/workarounds
  • Maintain communications, including LAN, WAN and internet;
  • Maintain Cisco and HP switches and controllers
  • Make sure services like Blackberry, Email access, Sharepoint, Intranet and fax connections are working
  • Make sure security camera systems are up and running
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems
  • Assist with contingency plans
  • Maintain license & warranty information (asset management)
  • Assist with hardware and software products research, evaluation and procurement
  • Maintain and administer phone system
  • Administrate CMS ERP system; ensure the consistent flow of the ERP system
  • Active role in quarterly physical inventory
  • Work with customer service to ensure consistent EDI process
  • Apply patches and keep the software and firmware up to date.
  • Provide backup to IT team in case someone is absent
  • Quantitative Measurements:
    • Provide IT support to the end users at 2 separate locations
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).
  • Work in a safe manner, obey PPE requirements, and follow 5S guidelines. Report all unsafe acts and conditions immediately to Supervisor/ Health and Safety Coordinator/ JHSC.
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

Work Environment:

  • 75% Office environment, 25% Plant Floor (PPE required)
  • Limited local travelling (when required)
  • On call to support 24x7

Decision Making and Authority:

  • Recommendations to department:
    • Troubleshoot production work stations and office work stations
    • Reset of user passwords
    • Attend emergency IT related situations
  • Quantitative Measurements:
    • Provide IT support to the end users at 2 separate locations

Physical Demands:

  • Regular sitting, talking, or listening,
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to work with push pull forces of up to 50lbs. or less

Health and Safety:

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
