Job Summary:
The School of Creative Arts is seeking a dynamic and versatile instructor for a one-year Limited Term Faculty appointment. The successful applicant will teach a total of seven (7) sections, in courses including Digital Imaging, Digital Concept Art, and Digital Photography (MEDA 110, MEDA 210, VA 180, VA 280). Candidates who can teach one or more of the following are preferred: Game Engines (MEDA 280), Exploring Creativity (MEDA 260, Critical Studies in Digital Media (MEDA 350), and Digital Multi-Tool (VA 119).

The successful applicant will teach a range of courses. Please note that courses may change as timetable needs evolve through the year.

The successful candidate will demonstrate commitments to providing an outstanding learning experience to students, to creating a student-centered environment, to providing positive and constructive feedback to students, and to ensuring a safe classroom environment. The ability to teach some courses online is preferred.

Successful applicants will also contribute to providing an excellent student experience through participation in the life of the School of Creative Arts and University. They are expected to serve on committees and complete extra-curricular service work equivalent to the committee duties of a full-time faculty member. They will be working closely with School of Creative Arts staff and will demonstrate the ability to work as part of a high functioning team, including excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills.

Duties of Limited Term faculty fall within Article 18.2 (Teaching Faculty Duties) of the Collective Agreement, specifically the Teaching and Service components.

The School of Creative Arts strives to promote Indigenous resurgence alongside decolonization and practices of anti-racism; successful candidates will demonstrate that they share this commitment and that they are committed to accessibility and inclusivity in their teaching practice. A documented record of teaching or professional practices that promote anti-racism, intersectionality, and equity is an asset.

Qualifications:
The successful applicant must have a graduate degree (Masters or equivalent), with a terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) strongly preferred. Education must be coupled with recent and relevant professional/industry experience. We are seeking energetic and innovative instructors with experience teaching at the post-secondary level and a developing record of excellence in teaching. Experience incorporating Indigenous perspectives, successfully fostering a diverse and internationalized classroom community, and responding to the needs of diverse students are preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.

Applicants must submit a cover letter and CV. Short-listed candidates will be asked to provide a one-page statement of teaching philosophy, a creative portfolio, the names of three individuals who can provide references, and recent teaching evaluations.

Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. The Selection Advisory Committee will begin reviewing applications on March 28, 2022; however, the position will remain open until filled.
