Job Description

The Imaging and Color Specialist’s primary role is to ensure accurate image and color workflows at Rodeo.

This person will be responsible for configuring all aspects of ingest and delivery in accordance to client specifications. This includes aspects such as color, slate configuration, format conversion and reformatting required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Show Setup

• The Imaging and Color Specialist is responsible for configuring the custom node graphs for ingest, delivery, dailes and editorial, using Rodeo’s in-house IO system, RIO, to implement client specifications to be validated by the Compositing Supervisor

• Working with the Compositing Supervisor, the Imaging and Color Specialist is responsible for creating and validating the OCIO configuration, and that the color through ingest, preview and delivery is correct

• Working with the Compositing Supervisors, the Imaging and Color Specialist oversees the workflow for color neutralization of client material, on all productions.

Support

• Work with production to solve color-related issues

• Work with productions to solve image format related issues (metadata issues, format issues, etc)

Communication

• Provide clear user facing documentation for new and existing workflows

• Communicate Rodeo IO procedures with internal staff or client technical staff

• Cross train Developers, TDs and technical staff in their area of expertise: color and imaging

Miscellaneous

• When needed, implements grades and alternate looks or custom color spaces for productions

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE :

Education

• B.S. degree in 3D Animation, Design, or related work experience.

Experience

• 5+ years experience in the Visual Effects industry

Technology

• Excellent knowledge of colour science principles and implementation techniques

• Excellent knowledge of end-to-end VFX workflows from on-set to delivery

• Knowledge of industry standard software (OIIO, Shotgun, FFMPEG, Nuke, RV)

• Experience working with OCIO (theory, editing configs);

Languages

• English – Spoken & Written

• French - Spoken
