HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER – Wellness, Health & Safety (Exempt)

Full-Time Continuing Position

The Langley School District is situated on the traditional unceded territories of the Matsqui, Kwantlen, Katzie, and Semiahmoo First Nations. We offer a broad range of innovative programs and services to support the learning of our students and staff in 30 elementary, 5 middle, and 9 Secondary schools which are home to over 23,000 students.

School District No. 35 (Langley) invites applications for the position of Human Resources Officer – Wellness, Health & Safety.

Reporting to the Director – Human Resources, you, as the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting proactive processes and practices related to employee well-being and workplace safety. Responsibilities include supporting the Manager of Health and Wellness and the Manager of Health and Safety in ensuring that District worksites are in compliance with all applicable statutory requirements and promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe work environment for all employees in the District. The position supports administration and case management of all employee leaves, return to work plans, duty to accommodate requirements, stay at work programs, as well as WorksafeBC reporting and compliance.

The successful applicant has a diploma in Human Resources Management and related experience or course work in employee wellness, health and safety or disability management. You have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a unionized setting, including excellent knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation, regulations, and guidelines. You possess excellent interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy, problem solving, sound judgment, and the ability to build effective relationships. You have strong communication skills, organizational skills, analytical skills, strong computer skills and possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Experience in the public sector and current CHRP Designation would be an asset.
