The Environment Artist is responsible for creating photo-real CG environments through the assembly and rendering of digital matte paintings, models, textures, projections and lights.

You Can

• Create models, textures and photo-realistic digital matte paintings
• Collaborate with Modelers, Texture Artists and DMPs to create photoreal environments of the highest quality possible
• Light and assemble scenes
• Troubleshoot and optimize renders
• Work with photogrammetry
• Produce examples that demonstrate your proficiency in set design and your inherent grasp of architectural arts
• Identify the best method for matching the qualities of the plate photography

You Have

• At least four years of experience as an Environment Artist or TD in a VFX Production Environment
• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, studio arts, computer graphics or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• A mastery of Maya, Mari, ZBrush and Katana as well as an understanding of the 2.5D workflow in Nuke
• Solid Houdini and/or Clarisse knowledge
• Experience as a Modeler, Texture Artist or Digital Matte Painter
• A strong understanding of the entire VFX workflow
• A cultivated aesthetic eye for light, shade, color, and detail to facilitate the creation the texture maps of various types
• A traditional arts background is preferred but not required
• An approachable, proactive, and accommodating attitude
• An innate desire to stay informed of current technologies
• Strong time management skills and the ability to balance priorities under the pressure of a deadline-driven production
• Strong organization and communication skills
• A team oriented mentality with a ’get it done’ attitude
• An ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment
• An ability to take direction and implement feedback with a positive attitude
