Position:

Calian, Advanced Technologies is looking for an Engineering Technologist to join our Hardware team. You will design electronic and mechanical systems in conjunction with System Engineers, conduct prescribed tests, develop and evaluate engineering and manufacturing documentation and travel to site for system installation and test.

Responsibilities:

• You will provide support for proposal generation, hardware procurement, manufacturing production, project management, and customer meetings
• You will prepare drawings and parts lists for systems, modules, racks, chassis and components for satellite ground stations, test & measurement systems, defense applications and other related markets
• You will assist engineering and senior personnel in the assembly and test of prototypes, engineering development models and test fixtures
• You will review engineering designs and documentation for manufacturability
• You will prepare and execute unit-level and hardware sub-system test procedures
• You will troubleshoot to the component level, documenting and resolving any problems efficiently and in observance of Calian’s standards and project requirements
• You will work with Configuration Management and Material Resource Planning tools to maintain design documentation and coordinate production
• You will travel to site to perform system installation, integration and test

Qualifications:

• Successful completion of an Electronics Technology Diploma or equivalent education
• 2+ years of experience in design and test of communications and electronics systems is considered an asset
• Experience in the design of cables, equipment chassis, and HVAC is considered an asset
• Exposure to RF test and measurement is considered an asset
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Able to work well in a team environment
• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Willing and able to travel internationally, and adhere to international travel guidelines as determined by the Government

The ability to meet the requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory. The successful candidate is required to apply for and receive a Government Security Clearance.

The successful applicant will be required to work on-site at our Innovation Place facility.
