This position works closely with the assigned Project Manager as technical project lead for the execution of wastewater systems and the design of wastewater products/systems for the Wastewater Center of Excellence in the Integrated Equipment Technologies Segment, Industrial Division of Evoqua Water Technologies LLC (Evoqua). The Wastewater Center of Excellence provides process solutions, including integrated equipment design, supply and installation for raw water treatment, industrial wastewater recycle/reuse and complex wastewater treatment systems, for customers in various industrial markets. This position will be focused on treatment of industrial wastewater for removal of inorganic constituents, primarily using physical/chemical treatment technologies.

This position will be responsible for the following tasks and duties:
  • Work with the project manager to clearly identify customer’s needs and assist in development of execution strategy
  • Provide technical support, both practical and strategic, throughout project including proposing solutions at customer meetings which may require development of presentation materials
  • Provide support to project management in the recognition and development of change order opportunities or risk assessment throughout execution of project
  • Interpret project technical specifications and terms & conditions documents
  • Receive project Handover Packages and turnover documentation with a full understanding of the as-sold requirements
  • Prepare hydraulic design, pump calculations and equipment calculations as required to meet the project requirements
  • Coordinate and oversee third party engineering activities including but not limited to structural analysis of the equipment designs to meet project requirements including obtainment of professional engineering stamping
  • Prepare documentation to meet the requirements of the project specifications including operation & maintenance manuals, training manuals, and installation scoping documentation
  • Prepare Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and General Arrangements (GAs) for equipment layout, and wastewater facility layout drawings
  • Provide complete equipment engineering information to design team for development of complete and accurate general arrangement and fabrication drawings
  • Develop buyout products technical documents, including scopes of work, equipment layouts, equipment datasheets, and specifications for supplier compliance
  • Support the purchasing team throughout the purchasing cycle for technical questions, submittal reviews, and expediting of suppliers
  • Coordinate activities with project quality to ensure quality specification requirements are conveyed to our suppliers and factories
  • Support manufacturing facilities during fabrication and assembly of equipment
  • Provide technical support to the field services team during project commissioning and startup execution
This Position Requires The Following Qualifications And Experience
  • Minimum of a BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required, with other disciplines considered based on experience
  • 8+ years of experience in a complex project environment as a lead project engineer
  • Experience with systems integration
  • Heavy Industry experience is required
  • Preferred but not necessary experience in wastewater treatment industry involving process design and/or equipment specification, knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, including physical separation, chemical precipitation, membrane separation and ion exchange
  • Demonstrated complex issue resolution on projects showing advanced problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated indirect or direct management of a multi-disciplined engineering team
  • Strong leadership written and verbal communications skills
  • Able to communicate his/her ability to meet the schedule and scope requirements of projects, and is able to discuss actions taken for projects that deviated from schedule and scope
  • Ability to understand project process guarantees and the selection of equipment to meet these requirements
  • Understands project management requirements regarding forecasting, scheduling, and client relations
  • Business travel (up to 25 percent) is required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, is preferred
