The Company aspires to grow and expand and is in the process of stabilizing it’s staffing resources. Reporting to the Project Manager, a Part-Time Drafter & Administrative Assistant is needed to assist in plan development and project tasks.

This will be a part-time salary position, 30 hours per week in office attendance.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work directly under the Project Manager who will train and oversee the Drafter & Administrative Assistant in this position. This role is considered an entry level position within the industry and specialized training in tenant improvement plan development, permit application and coordination will be provided. In addition to training, professional business communications and contract administration will be included.

Candidates should expect the following responsibilities:

· Draft architectural, millwork and signage plans using AutoCAD

· Working with other company staff in the production of drawings and addressing other work function responsibilities

· Attending virtual and in person meetings as well as phone conferences and taking meeting minutes

· Assess sites by executing in person site audits, reviewing reference plans and photos

· Ascertain base building, permit, tender and construction drawing requirements

· Communicating with sub-consultants and suppliers in the development of plans and product specifications

Qualifications and Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should possess an education or experience in architectural drafting or design. In addition, the candidate should posses working knowledge of AutoCAD and can read and understand technical drawings. Although all the specified attributes are not required to be the successful applicant, preference maybe given to those deemed to be most qualified for the position.

Additional Information

Site visits and meetings will be required, applicants must hold a valid drivers license to operate passenger vehicles within Canada and access to a vehicle during business hours is required. Additional travel may be required byway of ferry, train or airplane within Canada and the ability and willingness to occasionally travel long distances is expected.

Communication is a key part of this position and understanding and retaining instructions as well as communicating and providing information to others is one of the main responsibilities. Fluent English byway of oral, reading and writing at a minimum of trade school level is required.

Our main work tool will be computers and proficient operation knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, and a common internet explorer program is imperative.

Every project is different and the ability to problem solve and adjust to changing situations and “shifting gears” from project to project is required in this fast past environment. It is expected that the successful candidate will be resourceful and proactive in their role with the ability to follow company policies while thinking independently when required.
