Bi-Weekly Hours: 75.0 hours bi-weekly / Days / 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.(Commencing Immediately)This is an on-site Director position, reporting to the Administrator of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, and providing leadership and direction for the non-clinical services within the hospital including: Telemedicine and Library Services; SPD ( (Supply, Distribution and Portering); Volunteer Services; Admitting/Telecommunications; Health Records; Environmental Services; Facilities Management & Maintenance Services; Bio-Medical Engineering; QEH Auxiliary; QEH Foundation; Medical Devices & Equipment; Security Services and Security System Administration. The incumbent is also responsible for leading QEH Redevelopment initiatives including updating the Functional Plan. The individual also plays a key role in carrying out a variety of special projects within the hospital. The Director of Support Services is expected to participate in an on-call rotation and may fulfill the role of acting Administrator from time to time. Duties will include: - Participates with the QEH Administrator and other QEH Directors in leading the development and coordination of strategic planning as well as in the planning, implementation and evaluation of health care programs provided by Queen Elizabeth Hospital ensuring compliance with accreditation standards;- Provide guidance, supervision, mentoring, direction and decision-making support to managers responsible for services within Support Services;- Collaborates with other health care agencies and Health PEI in the design, implementation and evaluation of health services, particularly those of Support Services standards;- Ensures the effective & efficient operation and delivery of services;- Performs personnel management functions: selects and assigns staff; interprets regulations and procedures; delegates responsibility to supervisory personnel; assesses staff educational needs; evaluates performance of personnel; and takes disciplinary action as required;- Work closely with the QEH Administrator and QEH Directors and other Health PEI services to share information, tools and facilitate the development of common standards based on best practice guidelines;- Promote a culture of patient, staff and public safety to minimize the risk of injury and or illness;- Applies the principles and activities of the accreditation process; pursues accreditation standards of service delivery. Ensures follow up with recommendations and or required reports as a result of the accreditation process;- Develop and enhance communication among staff, patients, physicians, interdisciplinary teams, volunteers, institutional partners, and the community at large;- Maintain effective liaisons with other health, government, and or community agencies and seek opportunities for enhanced partnerships;- Lead the annual Capital Equipment process ensuring equipment purchases reflect prioritized hospital needs and link with QEH Foundation fundraising initiatives;- Acts as liaison to IT shared services and leads facility component of IT projects;- Lead the initiation of a long-term capital asset replacement program in partnership with the QEH/HPEI;- Lead the administration of medical and non- medical equipment and service contracts; and other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Must have a university degree in a related field, supplement by management and leadership training; - A Master’s degree in an administrative field would be considered an asset;- Must have extensive management and/or administrative experience in a health setting including responsibility for financial, human resource, and project management;- Must have experience working in an institutional setting;- Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered;- Excellent written/verbal communication skills, proven interpersonal, organization and facilitation skills and the ability to plan and think strategically;- Strong team building skills and an ability to work collaboratively and to build and maintain effective partnerships;- Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.- The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory criminal records check prior to beginning employment.Please Note: Please ensure the application clearly demonstrates how you meet the noted qualifications as applicants will be screened based on the information provided.
