We are seeking the expertise of a strategic Development Servicing professional to join our Planning and Development department. Reporting to the Development Servicing Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating the operations of the Development Servicing division and overseeing the review of subdivision and development applications, including engineering construction plans, for subdivision, development permit and rezoning proposal as well recommends updates to the section’s policies and procedures.

With this growth comes the need for reviewing a high volume of development servicing plans which entail a deeper look at civil infrastructure or technical requirements to ensure new development has appropriate transportation, utilities, and streetscape servicing. As the supervisor of this team, you would be working closely with the Manager and senior technologists to oversee any related policies and processes, adapting to implement efficiencies as needed. Our ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and the ability to effectively liaise with internal and external contacts and stakeholders, paired with sound supervisory experience. The successful incumbent will have at least 5 years’ prior related experience in a progressive senior technologist role in addition to experience managing complex development applications, site inspections and infrastructure review and possess a diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field. Thorough knowledge of by-laws, regulations, standards, rules, acts and requirements related to subdivision and rezoning controls, proposals and proceedings. Eligibility for membership with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of B.C, as well as a valid BC Driver’s License (with satisfactory driving record) are requirements. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

The City offers a competitive salary of $43.82 to $51.78 per hour and an excellent benefits package. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, remote work options available. The City has a vaccination policy in effect with requirements for all current and future employees.
