From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first.

About the Role


Demo / Field Support Technician

Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Troubleshoots and performs diagnostic test of equipment malfunctions. Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personnel. Responsible for the installation, check out, operation, maintenance and repair and modification of customer equipment and/or software. Performs diagnostic tests to troubleshoot equipment failures.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Conduct Product Demonstrations: in-house, at Customer facilities, on Customer aircraft, at Trade Shows.
  • Work with sales Directors, In Country Reps, customers and systems engineering to define system configuration
  • Design and document MX system configurations to be demonstrated by self or others.
  • Communicates with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve explaining complex assignments, solving problems and initiating process improvements
  • Support equipment and personnel scheduling and logistics for demos.
  • Provide Customer training, installation, operation, maintenance as required to support demos.
  • Generate Demo and Show trip reports.
  • Respond to/ direct Customer / Sales Directors inquiries related to MX products.
  • Maintain Sales Equipment and demo room.
  • Oversee Demo Equipment repairs as required.
  • Provide Released Product Technical Data (RPTD) support to sales at demos and shows.
  • Distill valued insights from Sales / Customer inquiries and communicate, through written reports, to appropriate staff.
  • Recommend auxiliary (or peripheral) equipment needed to support demos and demo equipment.
  • Work with MEP (Mission Equipment Package) & MMS (Mission Management Systems) to successfully demonstrate the MX-Series Product in a fully integrated customer solution

Required Capabilities

  • Experience with MX or similar EO/IR equipment on aircraft installations, including problem troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Experience in interfacing with Customers. Positive and constructive attitude in dealing with customers.
  • Experience with computers, including a working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Visio.
  • Experience in Computer Aided Design programs (ACAD, Solid Works, Zuken)
  • Experience in the assembly and/or repair of L3WESCAM MX Series or similar Products.
  • Capable of reading and understanding electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Experience in the proper use of test and measurement instruments, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, calipers etc.
  • Experience working in/with the L3WESCAM or similar companies’ Customer Support and engineering department.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, German or Italian an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Work requires independent action and a high degree of initiatives to resolve issues. Works on complex assignments requiring development of concepts and techniques.
  • Experience with WESCAM Maint utility an asset.
  • Must be willing to commit to required travel (will be 35% at minimum).

Desired Education and Experiences

  • Requires advanced job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • 5 plus years’ experience in the Maintenance and Repair of L3WESCAM MX products.
  • Experience in L3WESCAM Product demonstration preferred.
