THE POSITION

We have an immediate opening for a full time Commercial Driver Technician in our Distribution Team. This position reports directly to the Distribution Manager and is based out of our manufacturing site in Prince George, BC. This position offers an attractive salary and benefits package along with living out and travel expense coverage as needed. In addition as this is a company fleet our driver technicians earn double time OT.

The incumbent will be an integral part of the Distribution team with regular loads throughout BC and AB, and is required to share coverage and backup fleet drivers based out of our Vancouver Island distribution location on a periodic basis.

You will work closely with the Distribution team members on a day to day basis performing final product quality checks, completing required paperwork for transloading activities, managing product inventory levels, and coordinate timing and transloading of Hydrogen Peroxide into final shipping containers to meet a demanding shipping schedule.

This position is a safety and quality critical role. This position is a very active and hands on role where the ability to stay focused on the job task to ensure safe handling of the product is required. The role requires a dedicated and self starting individual with good communication skills to coordinate daily activities.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• High School graduate
• Class 1 Drivers License with air brake endorsement
• Good driving record with no more than 2 infractions
• Experience handling bulk liquid dangerous goods is preferred
• Current TDG certification is preferred

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety, Health, Environmental

• Transport and unload hydrogen peroxide in complete compliance with all federal, provincial and local laws, and Company policies and procedures
• Perform critical pre-trip, post-trip, and enroute safety inspections and checks
• Maintain a current certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods
• Provide customer training in the areas of product handling and safety
• Act as a customer resource for unusual situations

General Responsibilities

• Transload Hydrogen Peroxide from rail car to bulk trailer for delivery to customer
• Ensure availability of resources (materials, equipment and drivers) to meet customer needs
• Maintain fleet (schedules repairs, maintenance and regulatory compliance inspections)
• Track driver hours and ensure delivery schedules are compliant with transportation regulations
• Source and purchase expense items related to the maintenance of the tractor and trailer fleet
• Monitor customer tank levels and proactively ensure orders are created and product delivered as levels and standard procedures dictate

Quality Assurance

• Communicate customer comments/complaints/suggestions to the appropriate teams
• Ensure all bills of lading, manifests, and other paperwork are checked for accuracy prior to departure
• Maintain the appearance and condition of the tractors and trailers and assist on any loading/warehousing operation
• Conduct pre offload inspection of customer tanks and offloading areas and make recommendations to resolve any safety or operational issues impacting delivery operations
