Job Description

The main responsibilities include but not limited to the following,

Responsible for managing code approvals and compliances related to the IKO Commercial - Products & Systems for the North American market including the following,

• To work with R&D or other depts./ teammates as necessary to ensure product approval and compliance process runs smoothly by performing preliminary testing (R&D), if necessary, prior to sending products or systems to a third party for compliance testing and approvals.
• To work with third party laboratory testing for products and systems approval as necessary. This includes arranging products or systems sample for testing, observing testing, testing schedule arrangements, test results reviews and etc.
• To work with authorities or building code officials for any necessary requirements related to approval of IKO Commercial products and systems.
  

Responsible for managing database of current Commercial code approvals and compliances for IKO products and systems including the following,

• To maintain products and systems approval and compliances reports and place them on the Connect (or other location) to be accessible by IKO’s approved personnel.
• To update IKO products and systems testing and approval reports on the data base as required.
• To periodically check the expiration, addition or removal of the current IKO products & systems approvals and compliances from the database.
• To contact local authorities or building code officials for any necessary requirements or expiration of approvals or compliances.
  

Responsible for verifying IKO Commercial products and systems are manufactured in accordance with the current codes and approvals requirements by actively working with other departments/teammates, such as quality assurance manager, R&D manager, product manager, plant manager, plant-quality assurance engineer/supervisor.

Responsible for reviewing brochures, bulletins, letters, technical specifications, product labels for IKO Commercial products and systems to ensure conformance with current code approvals and compliances.

Responsible for supporting sales & marketing on day to day requests from contractors, specifiers, engineers on code and compliance related issues for IKO Commercial product and systems.

Participate or actively involved in organizations/associations/government bodies such as NRCC,CSA,ASTM,ARMA,CRCA,LEED,NRCA etc. in order to keep abreast of industry trends as they relate to evolving standards for our products and evolving building code changes along with Health and Safety, Environmental issues.

Qualifications

Other responsibilities as required

• Familiarity with Building Envelope and/or Commercial Roofing and/or Wall Systems.
• 3 + years in a related position
• Degree in Engineering, civil, mechanical, industrial engineering or building science.
• Strong understanding of Canadian & US Codes & Standards such as FM, ULC, CSA, etc.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to read, interpret and use code listings both of our own company and those of the competitor to ensure compliance with specific requirements or create competitive edge for our company
• Solid analytical and project management skills.
• Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Outlook
• Ability to interface at all levels of the organization both internally and externally, strong interpersonal, verbal and written skills
• Work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
• Self-starter with the ability to develop and drive strategy.
• Previous experience in the building materials industry is an asset.
• Some travel is required
