Clinical Database Programmer

POSITION LOCATION: Canada or United States (home-based)

POSITION TITLE: Database Programmer (FT/Perm)

POSITION REPORTS TO: Manager, Database Programming

DEPARTMENT/UNIT NAME: Data Sciences

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for undertaking the technical activities required to build, test, maintain and archive clinical study databases throughout the duration of a study. This position may also act as the Lead Database Programmer and serve as a technology adviser to internal teams and sponsors

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Database Build and Design

o Create annotated (e) Case Report Forms (eCRF)

o Build, test and maintain clinical databases

o Program and test automated edit checks

Database Programming Support for Ongoing Studies

o Create and test files necessary for the electronic upload of data

o Program and generate data listings for ongoing studies

o Program and generate project tracking reports

o Perform data transfers

o Perform CR publishing requests

o Manage database access

o Archive electronic data and required documentation on study completion

Clinical Programming Leadership and Communication

o Act as programming contact with sponsor to address database issues regarding or relating to area of expertise

o Communicate the database set-up status and the achievement of milestones to internal or external project team members

o May assist in the creation and documentation of new or revised departmental procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study and 1-3 years of relevant experience. The successful candidate must exhibit the following: knowledge of Clinical Data Management processes and systems. Sound problem-solving, judgment and decision-making skills. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent organizational and technical skills. Self-motivation with strong communication skills and a commitment to achieving positive results. Strong attention to detail and keenness to understand the importance of building collaborative relationships to achieve results and meet timelines. Ability to engage in continuous learning and self-development. Ability to continually foster team work. Knowledge of CDISC / CDASH and basic understanding of SAS preferred.
