CHIEF POWER ENGINEER

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Chief Power Engineer will be responsible for the safe coordination of the Operations and Maintenance of the Energy, Drying, EFB Systems, Fire Protection Systems and Potable Water Systems. The successful candidate will lead the energy team of skilled operators. The core belief is that safety is paramount above all else and we are truly Stronger Together. The Chief Power Engineer is key member of our Management Team.

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

· Active participation towards providing and promoting a safe working environment

· Ensuring the daily operations and maintenance of the Energy Systems is in compliance with ABSA – including specifics relating to all “pressure equipment”

· Ensuring the operation meets all required government regulations and is compliant on all environmental issues

· Ensuring manuals and operating procedures are established and kept up to date

· Ensuring the ash material delivered to waste site is in compliance with the environmental permit

· Liaison for the dryer and energy EFB’s.

· Coordinating, implementing and maintaining environmental permit with respect to E.F.B.

· Facilitation to ensure monitoring on a day-to-day basis of the fire protection systems & equipment

· Coordinating regular training and skill upgrading for energy crews

· Monitoring of heating and grate cooling systems

· Monitoring the air supply released from all stacks

· Responsible for loss control prevention management

· Monitoring potable water (pump houses, wells and storage)

· Supporting Maintenance Manager in defining operation and maintenance projects for the Energy Dryer area

· Promoting and leading continuous innovation and process improvement initiatives

· Responding to changing priorities and operating conditions within the business

Here’s What You’ll Need:

· Ideal candidate will possess a 3rd Class power Engineering Certificate

· Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience within a heavy manufacturing industry – preference for OSB mill experience

· A commitment to safe work practices

· Strong planning and organizational skills

· Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment

· Must have track record of consistently demonstrating leadership skills as well as positive influence and accomplishments

· Experience working with thermal fluid energy systems

· Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
