Role

As an Intake Worker, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: receiving phone calls from the public regarding abused and neglected children, phoning collaterals, making referrals to appropriate community resources, providing consultation, and collaborating with professionals regarding allegations of neglect or abuse.


Successful candidates must be committed to learning the Workflow model of Intake and have a working knowledge of indigenous culture and the impact of colonization. They must also have a concrete understanding and working knowledge of Signs of Safety and the Child Intervention Practice Framework principals. Any position within the organization requires an extensive knowledge of community resources and how to support diverse populations within the community. Successful candidates must be able to work independently and exercise considerable professional judgment in providing services. Relationship building, decision-making, strong time management and organization skills are essential assets to be successful in any role.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor of Social Work or a Social Work Diploma.


Experience:

  • 6 months of related experience as a child intervention services worker.
  • Knowledge of community resources and Indigenous culture is essential.
  • Experience working with Microsoft office is required.
  • Preferred experience: conducting assessments, case management and planning in a child intervention setting.
  • Knowledge working with Indigenous cultures.
  • Experience in delivering foster care, kinship care, permanency support, and family preservation or intervention services would be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Child, Youth, and Family Enhancement.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong critical thinking skills.

The following equivalencies may be considered;

  • Master of Social Work and no experience, a related university degree with two (2) years of related experience; or a related diploma plus three (3) years of related experience.
  • Note: Equivalency for professional roles related to Child Intervention: Directly related degree or diploma, successful completion of in-service or comparable training and some directly related experience.

Salary

$2,557.64 - $3,306.24, bi-weekly ($66,758,58 - $86,286.6 annually)

Notes

Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week (full-time).


You are required to carry a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.


The final candidate for this position will undergo an academic check, intervention record check and provide suitable security screening. We will accept Criminal Records Check (CRC) that includes Vulnerable Sector that have been completed within the last 6months.

Other Information:

As per the Health Professions Act, successful applicants must: be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) to be eligible for this position, if: they have a degree in social work from any university in North America that is accredited by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) or the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE); or they have graduated from an approved social work diploma program in Alberta; or they have, within the last five years, been a registered, certified or licensed social worker in another province or with a member of the Association of Social Work Boards.
