THE ROLE

We have an excellent opportunity for a Branch Manager to join a leading OEM service and parts provider based out of Chilliwack, British Columbia. Reporting in the General Manager, the Branch Manager will oversee a team of mechanics, parts, service, and the shop foreman as well as manage their own sales territory. Our client has 6 branches across Western Canada, that support key market segments such as construction, pipeline, oil and gas/oil sands, aggregate, forestry, road building, mining, and transportation. We are looking to attract someone with excellent leadership skills, that still enjoys being hands on, who is sales orientated and can build a winning team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Full P&L responsibilities including expense and bottom line management.
  • Assist General Manager in developing an accurate and realistic branch budget.
  • Assist the General Manager in developing individual sales targets for branch and sales reps.
  • Director and supervise sales effort for the branch.
  • Ensure expectations for the General Manager are met or exceeded (i.e., call reports, number of calls per day, target account management, account penetration, etc.).
  • Set targets and direct the sales reps in the development of new customers focusing on profitable growth.
  • Manage their own sales territory, calling on customers and developing new business.
  • Work with the General Manager and Senior Leadership Team to set pricing strategies to maximize both sales and gross margins in the branch region.
  • Work with the General Manager and Branch Managers to contribute ideas and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Supervise the Service Department ensuring key operating metrics such as a labour margins, labour utilization and shop efficiencies are being met.
  • Assist the Shop Foreman in prioritizing workflow and ensuring work in progress is managed in a timely fashion.
  • Manage a team of parts and customer service reps to deliver the best in class customer service, improve business processes and hands on involvement with key large customers and quotations.
  • Manage all service, parts, warehouse and sales activities.
  • Deal with HR issues at the branch level, under the guidance of the General Manager to ensure HR policies are being adhered to and met.
  • Work with key vendors to increase sales of various product lines in the branch territory.
  • Work with senior management to introduction new product lines.
  • Attend trade shows and events as required.
  • Be available for travel throughout the territory as required.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Service to ensure technical, service and warranty issues are being met.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICIATIONS

  • 5+ years’ experience in business management in a heavy equipment parts and repair operation.
  • Ability to create and foster a positive working culture and building a strong branch team while representing the company’s best interests.
  • Experience in sales and running a service department.
  • Solid understanding of heavy equipment parts.
  • Excellent management and leadership experience.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Impeccable safety record.
  • Solid business acumen and customer service.
