We are looking for a highly motivated BI & Data Analyst to join the Financial Systems Team in Toronto. This role will report to the Manager, Financial Systems and be responsible for designing and validating management system reports (including Power BI, Power Query and Excel), performing data analysis using a wide variety of applications, and driving automation efforts within the Finance team (specifically focused on Robotic Process Automation). To succeed in this role, candidates will have a strong aptitude towards working with large volumes of data, experience in data analytics, ability to mine data, and understanding data flow & structure. This role requires strong attention to detail as well as the ability to multitask in a complex environment. The preferred candidate will have a strong focus on customer service and be a team player with a proven ability to build relationships between the business groups, financial team and IT department.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for
Work with financial and operational data from primary or secondary data sources
Seek efficiencies in existing processes and execution of process improvement initiatives, including exploring and identifying potential new tools and technologies for enhancing reporting automation capabilities, including the use of Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
Identify, analyze, interpret and report on trends or patterns in complex data sets
Exploring large data sets and drawing meaningful conclusions and insights, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs
Filter and “clean” data by reviewing extracts, reports, printouts, and performance indicators to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems, including data quality, integrity issues and follow data governance policies
Work with management teams to prioritize business, analytics and information needs and understand project requirements
Assist with the preparation and development of reporting, presentations and various materials for discussion at the executive level
To succeed in this role, you have
Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
Have a minimum of 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in a similar role (e.g. Data Analyst or BI Data Analyst).
Willingness to learn RPA and automated technologies, with a strong inclination to improve processes and not settle for ‘status quo’ (exposure to UI Path an asset).
Advanced Excel knowledge (including Pivot Tables, Power Query, VBA Macros), and proficient in Power BI, and SQL.
Experience and exposure to Hyperion Financial Management, Global Spreadsheet Server, and other BI Tools (e.g. Tableau) an asset.
Strong eagerness to learn new tools, topics and explore opportunities to leverage technology to generate efficiencies and improve capabilities.
Team oriented individual with strong communication skills, who is comfortable engaging with different groups within the organization (including non-technical audiences).
Technical expertise in data mining and analysis, with an understanding of financial reporting concepts.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and innovative approaches for resolution.
Strong project management and organizational skills and ability to work under pressure and manage high priority projects with multiple or competing deadlines.
