Job title: Automation technologist or Engineer (4 to 8 years) Assignment in Labrador City

Description

By joining our team, your role as Engineer or technologist will be to contribute to the various stages of project execution, from proposals to site supervision and the commissioning activities. Among other tasks you will be expected to contribute in preparing design engineering, make technological choices ensure client’s satisfaction and this from design to implementation. Additionally, you will also be expected to lead a team of engineers and technicians, ensure the quality of professional services and maintain positive client relations; For this permanent position, we offer the possibility of a permanent or temporary assignment (minimum of 2 years) at the Labrador city office with a return to our offices in the Greater Montreal area afterwards.

More Concretely, Your Duties Will Include

  • Be responsible for business relations and the quality of professional services.
  • Interact with clients and provide technical support to the team in charge of business development.
  • Participate in preparing and managing winning proposals.
  • Lead and carry out automation engineering projects for industrial clients and ensure good liaison with the other offices for effective results.
  • Performing inspections or technical surveys on-site;
  • Participating in upgrading numerous control systems including the design, definition of technical characteristics and commissioning for various projects in the mining industries
  • Preparing reports, plans, specifications and RFPs in accordance with needs expressed by clients
  • Performing inspections or technical surveys on-site;
  • Prepare plans, specification and engineering deliverables (P&ID’s, I/O drawings, Loop diagrams, motor control schemes, cables and instruments lists, installation details,..).
  • Participate in programming (PLC, HMI)
  • Planning and coordinating site follow-ups
  • Solving problems using a variety of known or innovative methods and techniques, and performing comparative studies
  • Supervising site work and participate in the commissioning activities.
  • Share your technical knowledge with young engineers and technicians on the team in order to prepare the next generation of technical professionals.
  • Applies the firm’s health and safety policy and takes the necessary preventive or corrective measures to perform the work safely; becomes familiar with the firm’s prevention program; and applies specific job directives.

Requirements

  • DCS or ACS or Undergraduate degree in automated production or electrical engineering
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in Automation/Instrumentation or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Asset Knowledge of the Electrical Code
  • Experience in design instrumentation and control system
  • Knowledge in equipment/instrument POV and start-up
  • Industrial Network Knowledge (Ethernet, Modbus, DeviceNet)
  • Experience in Rockwell control system programming (PLC, HMI, VFD) and Schneider’s;
  • Asset: DCS (Foxboro) and PI system;
  • Asset: Participated in the detailed engineering for a mining project or in the energy sector
  • Proficiency in project management, technical writing and troubleshooting
  • Experience in cost estimations and scope definition;
  • Asset : Member of the OIQ or PEGNL
  • Important Asset : Fluently bilingual (English and French), both written and spoken, and ability to draft technical documents in both languages
