The Veterinary Specialty Centre of Newfoundland and Labradoris the province’s only specialty referral center and 24-hour, full-service emergency hospital. It was originally founded to make sure that no pet owner would have to leave the province to get the proper care their pet needs.

We have the only board-certified surgeon and radiologist in the province, a CT scanner, offer chemotherapy, run a canine blood donor program and have the only ICU that is fully staffed 24 hours a day. When it comes to diagnosing and treating the pets of Newfoundland and Labrador, there is nothing we can’t do!

Through our comprehensive approach, we are able to provide the opportunity to practice gold standard medicine. As a 24/7 emergency and referral hospital, our emergency department handles an exciting and diverse caseload, inspiring lifelong learning and growth. We are a hospital that cares strongly for our patients. Our motto is:expert care, close to home!

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Emergency Doctor to join our exceptional team.

Our hospital offers a stimulating, fast-paced work environment where teamwork and high-quality care is at the heart of what we do. Outside a team that works together like family day-to-day, work–life balance is strongly encouraged and supported, as schedules are optimized to provide balance and minimize fatigue.

By joining us, you’ll be able to enjoy downtime experiencing a wide variety of activities in the St John’s area of Newfoundland. From hiking trails and other outdoor adventures, whale watching and historical sites, to a vibrant downtown area with world-renowned restaurants, a thriving arts community, and a varied social scene.

Our ideal candidate is client/patient centered, with strong communication and people skills. This person is self-motivated, confident in their medical abilities and able to collaborate with other doctors, as needed. The successful candidate will share our philosophy that success lies at the intersection of excellent patient care, dedicated client service, and a positive, collaborative team environment.
