Your role:


Taking direction from the Producer, Switcher Director and/or Director, the Assistant Director will organize and contribute to the preparation, production and postproduction work for television or other media. In this position, you will be assigned primarily to the studio floor, where you will be working in a fast-paced environment with a team of dedicated professionals delivering the best program possible each day to our audience. You will be working in a dynamic studio floor space and interacting with talent. You bring a desire to consistently deliver your best in a professional environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend production meetings and provide input regarding program content and production requirements.
  • Collaborate with specialized contributors to ensure that all production requirements are met.
  • Review line-ups/rundowns and other required paperwork and ensure updates are communicated to all affected personnel and talent.
  • Mark scripts for the director and any other specialized production personnel who require them.
  • Prepare production elements for the Director and/or Producer.
  • Request facilities, as well as necessary technical, design and post-production resources and ensure coordination of these bookings during the development and modification of the production schedule.
  • Arrange craft, production personnel, and talent on live or recorded productions.
  • Direct performers and crew members during live and recorded productions, based on instructions received from the Producer or Director.
  • Ensure basic production continuity.
  • Coordinate mics and IFB’s for talent and guests.
  • Coordinate audience requirements.

As required, performs the following duties:

  • Coordinate and schedule still photo, publicity, and on-air promotion shoots with talent and agents.
  • Coordinate all members of the crew and track preparation of production elements on the studio floor or location during camera blocking, rehearsal, taping and broadcast.
  • Familiarize new employees; participate in the development and delivery of training.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • Graduation from a community college with a diploma in Radio and Television Arts or the equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant industry experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to exercise judgment, work independently, and take initiative.
  • Ability to foster collaboration with a variety of individuals and groups.
  • Strong communication skills; oral and written.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Leadership skills are an asset.
