RWDI is seeking a Wind Tunnel Testing Technician (Wind Tunnel Operator) to join the Wind Tunnel Group in Guelph, Ontario. This is a full-time permanent position, working rotating 12-hour shifts.

The Wind Tunnel Operator is responsible for setting up and executing experiments that emulate the natural environment.

Responsibilities Include (but Not Limited To)
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, program and configure all wind tunnel components (electrical, electronic and pressure)
  • Safe operation of equipment and tools
  • Physical setup of the test model in the wind tunnel
  • Hookup of sensors to data acquisition equipment
  • Configure various software programs to facilitate data collection
  • Ensure accurate setup of physical model before testing
  • Ensure high quality data acquisition
  • Identify issues with data or setup, and create solutions to correct the issue when appropriate
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external team members to exchange information

Candidates Should Possess The Following Skills
  • Post-secondary education in electronics, sensors and instrumentation or engineering-related
  • Good attention to detail to ensure a high degree of quality assurance/quality control
  • Ability to work with commitment and accuracy under pressure to successfully meet deadlines
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Competent navigation of Windows based computer programs
  • Practical approach to physical setup of projects
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Using creative approaches when required to resolve issues
  • Ability to use various power tools for project setup
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally
  • Self-starter and able to work independently and as part of a team
