Overall Purpose of the Position

Reporting to the Head of Logistics & Distribution, this role is accountable for the efficient operation and management of Specsavers’ Canadian warehousing requirements, achieved through planning, coordination, administration and general management of operations. This includes the day-to-day supervision of Warehouse Operatives and the supervision of workload, reporting with the goal of ensuring internal and external customer requirements are met in a timely, cost effective manner.

Main Responsibilities

  • Have a clear understanding of the way in which the warehouse operations contribute to Specsavers’ policies and vision.
  • Provide clear and consistent leadership in motivating, organizing and encouraging teamwork to strive for continuous improvement and ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor the receipt, order assembly and dispatch of goods including glasses cases, frames, contact lenses and other consumables in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assume a holistic viewpoint of our British Columbia warehousing operations to identify efficiencies and improvements to work practices and arrangements and raise opportunities to senior management.
  • Develop business relationships with third party supply chain partners.
  • Liaise with third party supply chain partners to ensure collection and delivery is made in full and on time.
  • Ensure that the highest levels of inventory integrity are maintained through perpetual inventory processes and stock takes.
  • Develop systems, processes and approaches to drive continuous improvement opportunities across all areas within the warehouse to ensure timely fulfillment and dispatch of all orders within the constraints of budgetary targets.
  • Organize staff recruitment, rostering and training, and drive engaged and empowered staff performance.
  • Provide ongoing leadership and mentoring for Warehouse team members through effective use of the Performance Management system.
  • Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment.
  • Coordinate the use of automated and computerized systems where necessary.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Experience in leading a team in a fast-paced and demanding e-commerce distribution environment.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, continuous improvement mindset and coordination of people and resources.
  • The ability to identify operational opportunities and implement successful change initiatives.
  • Track record of managing costs and maximizing profitability.
  • Experience at achieving business objectives through a collaborative team approach.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong IT skills with a good working knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
  • The ability to work and manage a team to achieve KPIs.
