Intermediate Systems Analyst

The Intermediate Systems Analyst responsibilities will include formulating and defining system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems. In addition, prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written and analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.

Performance Expectations

  • Perform a lead role in the Project Management, planning, design, development, testing and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing developed applications.
  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve business systems issues. Create business requirements document.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Create system design proposals.
  • Performs cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
  • Create systems models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to application developers.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-users reviews, for modified and new systems.
  • Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Completes project and system support documentation to specifications.
  • Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
  • Translates users and or system requirements into functional technical specifications.

Credentials

  • A university degree, college diploma or equivalent experience in the field of computer science, information science, management information systems, business administration, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in a Systems Analyst, Project Manager or Business Analyst role.
  • Ability to interpret process flow charts to understand what data is captured and how it travels between various applications and hardware components.
  • Ability to assess the suitability of database platforms and software applications such as enterprise reporting tools and online transaction processing systems.
  • Possess interpersonal skills to conduct meetings with clients to discuss topics such as project activities, technical specifications, current business practices, growth plans, regulatory and reporting requirements and security risks.
  • Ability to work independently but may also work on teams with project leaders, software developers and subject matter experts as required.
  • Some knowledge of programming languages and tools, such as Visual Studio; SQL language and databases/tools, such as MS-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, report tools such as SSRS; .Net, C#, ReactJS, Redux, NodeJS, JSON, desktop and server operating systems and hardware; networking and protocols.
  • Knowledge of PLC’s and the capture of data from connected devices, experience in shop-floor automation would be beneficial.
  • Engage in continuous learning to keep up with changes by ready industry magazines, brochures, journals, attending conferences and workshops, and taking courses such as graphics and database programming.
