About The Role

We are looking for a Supervisor, Underground Mining to be responsible for all activities associated with safe production mining.

Working on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule and reporting to the Mine Captain, Diavik Diamonds Mine Inc. (DDMI) you will be
  • Coordinating the operation of the Underground Production Operators to achieve safe production;
  • Motivating the workforce through leadership behaviors aligned with our values of Everyday Respect;
  • Conducting daily toolbox meetings, weekly safety audits, compliance checks and job task observations;
  • Conducting thorough investigation on all safety incidents and creating a robust action plan to prevent any further incidents of this type;
  • Liaising with other department outside of Underground Mining;
  • Communicating effectively with cross shifts;
  • Reporting any concerns to the Underground Mine Captain or Superintendent;
  • Performing related duties and activities as directed by the Underground Mine Captain or Superintendent as required.
About You

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have
  • Substantial experience in fully mechanized underground mining, experience with electric-hydraulic long hole drilling will be considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, motivate others and drive results;
  • A valid First Aid certificate;
  • Have or be eligible for a Northwest Territories Underground Blasting Certificate;
  • Have Underground Mine Rescue experience;
  • Have or be eligible for a Northwest Territories Mine Shift boss Certificate;
  • Experience working with people from different cultures and knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North will be an asset.
Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets. Hiring priority will be given to qualified applicants who are beneficiaries of the DDMI Participation Agreement Groups and to qualified applicants residing in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Territories.
