The Company

B2Gold is a low-cost international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has three operating gold mines and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Canada, Mali, the Philippines, Namibia, Columbia, Finland, and Uzbekistan. This year, B2Gold forecasts gold production to be 1,000,000 - 1,080,0000 ounces.

Position

Superintendent, Environment, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Vice President, Sustainability, this position will be a fly in / fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor B2Gold Nunavut’s Environmental Management System to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the project in compliance with existing permits, licenses, and other regulatory needs.
  • Implement and effectively communicate environmental policies and standards across site.
  • Ensure the correct and prompt external reporting as required under existing permits, licenses, and B2Gold Nunavut’s Environmental Management System.
  • Manage the implementation and review of Environmental Projects site wide to achieve compliance with regulatory requirements and commitments with Indigenous Stakeholders including baseline, construction (including to be constructed drawings), and operational conditions (including as built resorts).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external Stakeholders and Indigenous groups.
  • Coordinate onsite environment monitoring and environmental baseline data collection.
  • Identify risks associated with environmental activities of the project and implement approved risk mitigation measures. Complete environmental risk assessments and report deficiencies that affect environmental aspects.
  • Provide environmental expertise during permitting processes.
  • Understand and comply with environmental permits and regulatory requirements for site teams and anticipate requirements for permit amendments to limit impacts on production and operation.
  • Provide site-based technical support and review of environmental aspects of the project and ensure the proper data management for project monitoring programs. Maintain database systems as required.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient use of field and laboratory analytical equipment.
  • Perform field monitoring and sampling as required.

Competencies and Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of experience in implementing and maintaining environmental programs, with three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity, in mining (preferred) or construction environment.
  • Bachelor’s in Earth Science, Environmental Science, Geochemistry, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Professional certification through the Canadian Environmental Certification Approvals Board as an Environment Practitioner (EP or equivalent)

Compensation and Benefits

The starting salary for this role is $150,000.00 annually for 2184 scheduled hours in a work year.

B2Gold Nunavut offers a competitive compensation package, including salary commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills, plus a group benefits package for employees and their dependents.

Due to high occupancy during this phase of construction the successful candidates(s) may be assigned shared accommodation. In this event, the incumbent(s) will be eligible for a $40.00 per day shared accommodation allowance.
