Social Worker

This position is for the Psychiatric Emergency Services.

Temporary postiion until approximately October 28, 2022.

Days, and evenings, 8 hour shifts.

• Master’s in Social Work with a clinical concentration from a university of recognized standing;
• Member in good standing of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers;
• Experience working in an acute care hospital setting;
• Experience in a multidisciplinary mental health setting;
• Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge of mental illness, intervention approaches, especially crisis intervention with persons experiencing a mental health crisis;
• Knowledge of a variety of theoretical frameworks and treatment modalities such as crisis intervention, systems theory, etc.
• Knowledge of the Health Care Delivery System;
• Knowledge of legislation, acts and regulations such as Ontario Works, Public Hospital and Mental Health Acts;
• Experience working with issues such as dying, grief and loss;
• Ability to provide both group and individual counseling;
• Excellent knowledge of discharge planning, community resources and the placement process;
• Excellent assessment and crisis intervention skills;
• Demonstrated skills in teaching and consultation;
• Superior written, verbal and presentation skills;
• Ability to multi-task;
• Superior interpersonal skills;
• Eligible to work in Canada.

• Recent Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training;
• Suicide Intervention Workshop;
• Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
