Summary

As a key member of GFL’s dynamic team you will provide technical and administrative support to the Liquid West EH&S team within Western Canada, with primarily focus at the Delta location. Reporting to the District Manager, this individual is responsible for working with operations personnel to ensure EH&S requirements are met throughout the District, act as a go-to person in matters related to safety, legislation, implementing procedures, and offer support to maintain standards, best practices, and safety concerns for the locations if needed. This position requires an enthusiastic individual who presents a professional demeanor and a positive attitude with very high attention to detail.

Job Duties

  • Support the implementation of GFL’s EH&S initiatives, programs, policies, and procedures while ensuring compliance with relevant environmental and occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Maintaining and implementing modules through GFL’s EH&S Management Platform “ENABLON”.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Operations Managers and Supervisors in the completion and compliance in all Environmental and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Support and assist in internal and external COR and other EH&S related audits
  • Maintain databases for internal and external reporting (incident reporting and investigation, statistical analysis, etc.) and tracking trends for areas of improvement and successes of internal programs.
  • Actively support, participate and complete workplace inspections, both within facility as well as at client’s locations, to ensure regulatory requirements are met and to prevent workplace incidents.
  • Assist with the orientation/onboarding of new hires and the training of all employees and contractors when needed.
  • Provide support to the EH&S teams in other areas as needed.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 Years of experience EH&S, primarily focused on coordination and administrative duties.
  • NCSO or NHSA designations would be an asset.
  • Experience and proficiency with the “ENABLON” EH&S Management Platform or similar would be an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite; ability to adapt to various computer programs. A high degree of computer and project management software literacy required.
  • OH&S or Environmental diploma, certificate, degree or equivalent. CRSP designation or enrolment to such program would be considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial employment and EH&S legislation.
  • Flexible in work hours to support different shift schedules within facility and fleet operations.
  • Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or private information with tact and discretion.
  • Self-motivated with good organizational capability.
  • Knowledge of industrial, waste disposal, trucking or manufacturing environments is an asset.
  • Must have a clean class 5 driver’s license (driver’s abstract required).
  • Confidence in ability to work in a constantly changing, fast paced work environment.
