Job Description

Security Guards - Full-Time Hours - Temporary Position

Allied Universal is currently hiring
Security Guards
for one of our
industrial sites located 20 minutes north of Fort Saskatchewan
.

  • Hourly Rate - $20. 56
  • Alberta Security License
  • Temporary Work Term for 6-10 Weeks
  • Full-Time Hours: 12 Hour Shifts - Days (0600-1800 hrs.) and Nights (1800-0600 hrs.)
  • Rotational shifts schedule with both days and nights availability required.
  • Class 5 Advanced driving license
  • Clear driving abstract for the last 3 years.

Essential Functions:

Security guards may be asked to perform many essential functions at the facility they work at, although not an exhaustive list, these are a few of them:

  • Ensure the facility is provided with high quality security services to protect people and property which includes access control.
  • Build, improve and maintain effective relationships with both client employees and guests/visitors.
  • Use communications devices such as radios and cell phones.
  • Follow radio and emergency telephone procedures.
  • Patrolling the facility on foot or in a vehicle of interior and exterior areas of assigned locations.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, up to date reports and follow post orders as assigned.
  • Ensure that any or all emergency situations that may occur at the workplace and client facilities are responded to by following safety and emergency procedures within the scope of Allied Universal guidelines.
  • Demonstrate an active interest in promoting safety consciousness in the workplace.
  • Maintain complete, accurate and up to date, patrol notes, incident reports and information management system entries as required.
  • Maintain the client’s property and facilities in accordance with local trespass legislation, property acts and/or other laws affecting a client’s property.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Report safety concerns, security breaches and unusual circumstances both verbally and in writing.
  • Handle security issues or emergency situations appropriately.
  • Fully embrace security/safety training programs.
  • Be aware of and familiar with the site-specific operations performance manual and post orders.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Previous contract security, military or law enforcement experience will be an asset.
  • Must possess a valid Alberta Security License.
  • Must possess a valid Alberta Driving License with a clear driving abstract from the last 3 years.
  • Must be proficient with computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard.
  • Neat and professional appearance.
  • Friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to province and/or local laws and regulations and will be required prior to employment.
  • As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background check.
  • Display exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently.
  • Able to:
    • Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
    • Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
    • Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
