Sales Manager Position

As the newest Delta Hotel by Marriott, with 315 modern guestrooms and suites, 11,000+ square feet of stylish meeting space, onsite Starbucks® Coffee and Driftwood Social Bar + Table, we’re looking for a dynamic Sales Manager to join our team and embark on an exciting career. This role is responsible for identifying, negotiating and confirming new business for the hotel, while maximizing revenue from existing accounts. As a result of COVID-19, we’ve added more flexibility to the role. Initially, the Sales Manager will be responsible for all markets and will contribute to restructuring the team as business levels improve.

The ideal candidate should possess an engaging personality and confidence to manage existing client relationships while seeking out new business opportunities from social and business markets. Prospecting telephone calls, pre-planned sales calls, and responding quickly and effectively to RFP’s are all part of a typical productive day. Timely follow up of all sales activities to effectively contract business while adhering to hotel rate structures, credit policies and property procedures is a developed skill. Maintaining an up-to-date, accurate client tracking system to help guide timely contact patterns is how you operate. From start to finish, you’ll manage the client relationship, and effectively communicate their needs and expectations to hotel operating teams through contracts, group resumes and BEO’s for

confirmed catering contracts. You’ll also maintain close contact with clients while in-house in order to ensure complete guest satisfaction and future bookings.
  • Heightened preference will be given to candidates with previous Marriott sales leadership & systems experience (Opera PMS, CI/TY, One Yield, M.A.R.S.H.A., Marriott Bonvoy, Brandworks, MI Leads, MRDW, MarRFP ).
  • Requirements include a High School Diploma (University degree in related field preferred)
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Hotel Sales position, including catering sales, excellent telephone skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
  • High proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook; proficiency with Opera PMS and desktop publishing programs are valued assets.
  • Strong knowledge of prospecting and upselling techniques.
  • Essential elements of success also include strong organizational skills, accuracy in document preparation and savvy online & social media skills.
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license is required.
v When lockdown and COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, travel to attend workshops, trade shows, brand meetings, and in-person activities will be required. You also may be required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays, should the need arise.
