The successful candidate will work as a research assistant within the Division of Critical Care Medicine on several studies related to adult critical care. Activities may include but are not limited to: (1) screening and recruitment for new and ongoing observational studies and randomized trials, (2) data collection, (3) coordinating all research activities for several ongoing studies, (4) conducting literature reviews, including systematic reviews, & (5) participation in manuscript/ grant preparation, among other activities.

Rate of Pay:To commensurate with experience

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in a health-related field required. A research-based Master’s degree in a health-related field is strongly preferred however equivalent qualification/ work experience will be considered

Skills

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication in English
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Experience working in an academic research environment preferred
  • Proficiency in conducting scientific literature search [i.e., Medline etc.]
  • Experience in using referencing software (i.e., Endnote) preferred
  • Experience in clinical data collection from electronic records (i.e., Powerchart) preferred
  • Experience with data entry using electronic data capture software (e.g., REDCap) preferred
  • Experience in manuscript & grant preparation/ submission preferred
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a health review which includes providing vaccination records or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (Chicken Pox). In addition candidates will need to provide documentation of Tuberculosis Skin testing and a completed COVID vaccine series (two vaccines).
