Contenuto del lavoro

The Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute (PAMI) was founded in 1975, on the recommendation of a federal commission on farm machinery advocating the creation of a central agency for testing and evaluating farm machinery in Canada. Since then PAMI has evolved to serve three industries: agriculture, mining and transportation.

PAMI operates out of two highly specialized technological facilities in Humboldt, SK and Portage la Prairie, MB. While both sites offer state-of-the-art test equipment, PAMI’s most valuable asset continues to be its employees who encompass a variety of backgrounds including agriculture, engineering, mining, trades, and instrumentation. Approximately 85% of PAMI’s annual revenues are earned via services sold to private industry organizations with the remainder of its revenues coming from the support of the Saskatchewan and Manitoba governments.

In recent years, PAMI’s mandate and capabilities have expanded to include a portfolio of technical services and expertise that, today, include:

  • Engineering consulting services
  • Agrology services
  • Mechanical research & testing services
  • Crop processing & nutrient management

From an industry perspective, PAMI’s strategic focus has grown beyond the agriculture industry to also include top-tier consulting and related services to the mining and transportation sectors. As technology in these sectors continues to advance, PAMI’s service offering and areas of technical expertise are expected to evolve to include automation, numerical modelling, computer science, and data management.
