Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital, the Program Lead - Clinical Informatics will provide leadership and administrative oversight in the areas of clinical informatics, data development, and analytics for the Suburban Hospitals - Edmonton Zone portfolio, which includes Devon General Hospital (DGH), Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital (FSCH), Leduc Community Hospital (LCH), Westview Healthcare Centre (WVHC), Strathcona Community Hospital (STCH), and Northeast Community Health Centre (NECHC). This position will work in partnership with Medical Informatics Leads, site, and program-based leadership, and in partnership with AHS Quality, IT and Data Analytics, the Program Lead leads the improvement of quality care and outcomes for all patients by transforming and aligning administrative and clinical practice and processes with clinical data, information systems and technologies. The Program Lead plays a vital role in ensuring quality analytics by supporting best practice, education, communication, and shared improvement.

Description:

The Program Lead, Clinical Informatics will engage site, program, and zone stakeholders to continually improve the quality and integrity of clinical information. The Program Lead will be a key in guiding, supporting, and advocating on all matters related to the use of Clinical Information Systems (CIS) and the impacts these have on clinical operations. They will lead all types of improvement projects impacted by or relying on CIS and will seek to ensure the clinical priorities of the site, zone, and province are supported. The Program Lead will oversee the reporting and sharing of clinical information for use in decision making and performance monitoring. You will ensure integrity and rigor of datasets for evaluation purposes, including data retrieval, analysis, validation, report preparation and dashboard presentations in Tableau. In this role, you will work with multiple data types and sources including, but not limited to, Connect Care, Admission/Discharge/Transfer, Waitlists, Tableau.

Required Qualifications:

Masters in health informatics, Statistics, Analytics, or experience in business intelligence/clinical informatics. 5 years’ experience in a Leadership position. Strong analytical, organizational, and conceptual decision-making skills. Clear understanding of quality improvement principles, ability to distinguish between common cause and special cause data variation, comfortable with control charts and basic statistical processes. Confident with basic analytical software including Excel, proficient in Microsoft office. Knowledge and experience around change management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and planning skills. Experience teaching adult learners.

Preferred Qualifications:

Regulation as a health professional. CPHIMS-CA certification preferred (Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems). Membership in COACH recommended (Canada’s Health Informatics Association. PROSCI Certified. Experience successfully managing healthcare projects in a clinical setting an asset.
